Inspiring Women Environmentalists
I was happily surprised to read these stories of inspiring women! And there are lots of new info and links. For example, I had heard of Rosalie Edge confronting old school conservationists who supported hunting birds for feather plumes for hats. But I didn't know about her changing the goal from the economic uses of species to protection of species from extinction. She was a suffragette leader too! She protected migrating hawks! "She founded the first preserve for birds of prey and helped establish Olympic and Kings Canyon National Parks!"
There are some great women who should be added to this list: Rachel Carson, Sandra Steingraber, Helen Caldicott, Diane Wilson, Diane Fossey, Jane Goodall, the treehugger women of Asia, the forest protectors of the US , Canada, and worldwide; .....
