The diversity of whales is displayed on this shirt with an interwoven circle of Cetaceans. Whales are an amazing example of how the whole world coming together in the name of conservation can save a whole clade from the brink of extinction.
Whales are still in danger from pollution and poaching, and will surely be impacted by changing ocean currents and nutrient upwellings as our climate warms. Loopholes allow whaling for research purposes, and Japan has milked these loopholes for all they are worth, while Norway objected to the 1982 International Whaling Commission's moratorium outright. Whales are impacted by noise pollution, as the noise from shipping and sonar interferes with the communication and feeding patterns of whale pods.
