Despite a few feline qualities and their common misnomer, the ringtail cat is actually not a cat but a member of the raccoon family. They can be found in rocky areas in southern Oregon, southwestern U.S., and Mexico, where they hide in cracks and crevices to avoid predators. These elusive little fellas feast on fruit, insects, and other small mammals. The large, fluffy, ringed tail makes the ringtail more agile and balanced so that it can hop and scamper along the rocks it call home.
