North America is fortunate to have some of the most abundant and diverse wildlife and natural resources on Earth. More than 200,000 known species exist in the United States alone and all are part of our impressive wildlife heritage. But we are in the sixth mass extinction and stand to lose 40% of species in the U.S. due to habitat loss and fragmentation, unrestrained development, resource extraction, invasive species and disease — all compounded by climate change.

For generations, we have recognized our moral duty to conserve and protect the diversity of wildlife and special places that make our country unique. This legacy is part of what makes us proud to be Americans and prouder still to pass this shared heritage to the next generation. But this legacy is in danger.

In the wild, there is no left or right. There is only right and wrong. We have to stand together and fight for what is right.
