CORRUPTING COURTS AND PROSECUTORS

This is the way Karl Rove has operated, in that, at first in the contested elections in the Young Republicans, he would create alternate delegates, then appeal to a higher authority to have his delegates seated. Similarly in Texas he focused on controlling the state supreme court, then appealing any close elections to the supreme court. Also, the opponents of his candidates would find themselves under FBI investigation during the election, which would be widely publicized. Also, when his candidate was in a tough race, once he claimed that his office was bugged, creating a diversion and implying the opponent was spying. These examples are from the book Bush’s Brain. Currently, he has packed the Supreme Court with two pro-corporate, pro-police and pro-presidential power extremists, Roberts and Alito. Republican staffers even broke into the computer of Democratic Senator Kennedy, to steal his plan to organize senators to filibuster to oppose Roberts and Alito. Currently the Bush administration is embarrassed by reports that they were requesting US Attorneys to investigate Democratic politicians before the election. Seven of those who refused to do so or who investigated corruption by Republicans were fired in December 2007. It appears that Bush counsel Miers, Attorney-General Gonzales, the White House (Rove, and Bush?) were involved in the plans to fire US attorneys who wouldn’t smear Democratic politicians (NYT, p. 1, 3-13-07)
